Summer Classes Offered, 2025
Elementary school class: July 15, 17 (10AM-12PM)
Middle school class: July 16, 18 (10AM-1PM)
Elementary School: The Case of the Disappearing Diamonds
July 15th, 10AM-12PM
Ages 7 to 11
Maximum 8 students
Cost: $65

It is the Case of the Disappearing Diamonds, students will read the police statements of 4 different suspects and discuss motive. Then students will look at materials picked up from the crime scene, and use their forensic science knowledge, and perform 7 different experiments to analyze fibers, use chromatography to identify inks, lift fingerprints, look for DNA fingerprinting, and learn what it takes to be a detective. Kids will think critically, use lines of logic, and work together to solve a case. It’s an important case that must get solved!
Elementary School: Bristlebot Robotics
July 16th, 10AM-12PM
Ages 7-11
Maximum 8 students
Cost: $75
Students will build 3 different kinds of wiggling, wobbling robots for a fun introduction to robotics. One bristle bot is a wiggling robot using toothbrush heads, another is an art bot that draws as they move, and the third is built from scrub brushes. Students will learn simple electrical circuits that bring robots to life using vibrational motion to propel them. We’ll explore the field of robotics today and discuss possible uses of robotics in the future. Come and enjoy this exciting and creative hands-on kid’s activity that allows students to learn and enjoy racing bristlebots.
Elementary School: Tiny Bots
July 15th, 1-2PM
Ages 6 to 8
Maximum 6 students
Cost: $40

Come explore art robotics by building a tiny bot, and watching it bounce and wiggle around while creating pieces of art. Kids will learn the basics of electronics, and also the history of robotics. We’ll also do some creative thinking about the types of robots they would want to develop, and have fun drawing and using their imagination. Come explore the field of robotics at a young age, and we’ll have lots of fun building and creating together!

Middle School: Murder on the Houseboat
July 16, 10AM-1PM
Ages 11-14
Maximum 8 students
Cost: $75

Let’s dive deep into forensic science again to gather clues, think critically, use lines of logic, and find our suspect. We’ll start by discussing what life is like as a detective, and learn about famous detectives. Then we’ll come across a crime scene. We’ll protect the crime scene and use our critical thinking skills to look for logical clues that will help the class solve the crime. Students will learn about blood typing, and engage in determining different ABO and Rh blood types on samples collected from the crime scene, the victim, and the suspects. Then by using other resources, such as hair, fiber, fingerprint, and handwriting evidence, students will help to identify the killer.
Middle School: Mega Cyborg Hand
July 18th, 10AM-1PM
Ages 11 to 14
Maximum 8 students
Cost: $85

Mega Cyborg Hand: Friday, July 18th, 10 to 1PM. Cost: $85
We’ll explore hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics as we work through a kit that will give you your own cyborg hand, allowing you to move the hand just as your own. No motors, electricity, or batteries required. The field of robotics is growing exponentially. The more we understand the technology, the better we can utilize the technology. So, come build your own hand, have a competition as to whose hand can pick something up the fastest, and also learn about how robotics is used now, and will be in the future.

Middle School: Don't Let Them Get AWAY!
Aug 17, 10AM-2PM
Ages 11-14
Maximum 8 students
Let’s dive deep into forensic science to gather clues, think critically, use lines of logic, and get our criminal! First we’ll learn about some famous crimes that had unique evidence: what made them famous, how were these crimes solved, and what can we learn from them? Then we’ll
come across a crime scene. We’ll learn how to protect the scene and use our analytical skills to look for signs, and use our critical thinking skills to look for logical clues that will help the class solve the crime. Students will learn to lift fingerprints, analyze fibers, read a DNA fingerprint, and be detectives as they look for clues to help gain enough evidence to put away the right criminal. Or will they put away the wrong criminal?
